Bikeloop and Clear Channel have partnered to offer safe bicycle parking at no cost to developers and municipalities. The first advertising-financed bicycle parking solution is now in place at the entrance to Tjuvholmen in Oslo.

-We can now offer safe bicycle parking that makes it possible for Norwegian cities to facilitate increased cycling without burdening their own budgets. Bicycle parking garages protect against both theft and weather, and are an important part of the urban mobility of the future, says Nils Li, Business Development & Operation Director at Clear Channel.

Safety and sustainability in focus

With increasingly expensive bicycles, the need for safe parking is greater than ever. Bicycle thefts cost cyclists and insurance companies over NOK 166 million in 2023, and this cost increases by a minimum of 10 percent annually. Bikeloop and Clear Channel address this by offering closed and secure small parking houses that protect the bikes both from theft and harsh Norwegian weather conditions

Hedda Heyerdahl, founder of Bikeloop, highlights the importance of safe bicycle parking to promote green mobility and sustainable cities. She describes how Bikeloop's solution both ensures the safety of bicycles and supports national environmental goals:

-Bicycles are replacing cars in many Norwegian households, and our solution ensures safe parking for everyone. By combining sustainable infrastructure with inclusive design, and good user-friendly solutions, we promote cycling as an attractive alternative to cars and at the same time contribute to achieving national environmental goals. This is the solution of the future for bicycle parking, says Hedda.

Inviting developers and municipalities to join the team

Bikeloop and Clear Channel want to contribute to Norwegian cities reaching their climate goals. Advertising-financed bicycle parking garages give cities a unique opportunity to increase bicycle use and reduce car traffic without major investments. Several developers and municipalities have already been invited to take part in this sustainable mobility revolution.

Eline Oftedal, Secretary General of the Norwegian Cyclists' Association, sees this as a major step forward. -This initiative makes it easier and safer to park your bike, and it makes more people choose the bike. That more bicycles help reduce traffic problems and promote green mobility, says Eline.

It only takes 30 seconds to park your bike safely

We encourage all cyclists to download the Bikeloop app to pre-book bike parking and park in Bikeloop's bike house at Tjuvholmen. This small but innovative parking house is designed to meet the needs of all cyclists, including those with disabilities. Here you can see how the smart technology and inclusive design have made it possible to safely park your bike together with your helmet and other belongings in a quick, easy and safe way - and make room for both large and small bikes.

Clear Channel and Bikeloop invite Norwegian municipalities and the real estate industry to take part in this revolution.

-Let's together make cycling a safe, sustainable and practical choice for all citizens. The bicycle cities of the future need safe bicycle houses – and that future starts today, encourages Hedda Heyerdahl.
