Bikeloop reflects on a year of growth and international recognition

Bikeloop has completed a dynamic and successful year marked by growth, innovation and collaboration. 2024 has been a breakthrough year for the company, with the launch of new bicycle parking facilities, strategic partnerships and key new hires. The company has also gained international recognition, reaching the semifinals of the Sustainable Cities Challenge in Venice and winning a competition organized by Mobility Lab in Helsinki - further solidifying its position as a leading player in sustainable cycling infrastructure.

BREAKTHROUGH YEAR: The Bikeloop team is pleased with the results the company achieved in 2024.

Bikeloop has created forums for dialogue and inspiration through its breakfast events

Bikeloop has fostered dialogue and inspiration through its breakfast events, bringing together stakeholders from the public sector, municipalities and the real estate industry. These events have featured insightful presentations and engaging discussions, often focusing on the need for secure and accessible bicycle parking and its crucial role in promoting cycling as a sustainable and efficient mode of transport.

-There are many exciting developments happening right now, and I believe Bikeloop fits well into this progress. We have been good at establishing Oslo standards for bike lanes and variations of raised and recessed cycle paths to create the best cycling infrastructure on the roads, but there hasn't been the same systematic approach to parking. That is needed, and we need solutions like this for bicycle parking, said Marit Kristine Vea, Oslo’s City Commissioner for Environment and Transport, who participated in one of the events.

Key milestones and expansions

Some of the year’s highlights include the launch of new bicycle parking facilities in Tromsø at the University of Tromsø, at Jessheim Station, Tjuvholmen, Fornebu S and Kadettangen in Sandvika. The facilities at Fornebu S and Kadettangen were developed in collaboration with Smart City Bærum, and Bikeloop has also expanded its presence to Helsinki.

Strategic partnerships have also played a crucial role in Bikeloop’s growth. This includes new distribution agreements with Norfax and Brødrene Dahl, as well as a collaboration with Clear Channel to develop advertisement-funded bicycle parking solutions. Additionally, the company has strengthened its team with three key hires. Lasse Wigum Lurvik as Logistics and Procurement Manager, Line Schrøder as Sales and Business Developer and Mona Elisabeth Gladhus as Head of Marketing and Projects. These new team members will help drive further growth and development for Bikeloop.

Looking back with pride

Reflecting on the year, Bikeloop founder Hedda Heyerdahl shared her excitement: -Creating a culture where bicycle parking is seen as just as essential as other infrastructure has been our biggest motivation in 2024. I am incredibly proud of our team, our partners and the impact we’ve made in making cycling a more convenient choice. This is just the beginning, and we are excited to continue building on this momentum in the years to come.

Strengthening Bikeloop’s international presence

Bikeloop has also made a strong impression on the international stage. In addition to participating in Smart City Expo in Barcelona, the company was nominated for the Nordic ProTech Awards 2025 and reached the semifinals of the Sustainable Cities Challenge in Venice. Moreover, Bikeloop was selected to participate in Telia’s startup mentorship program, providing valuable guidance and networking opportunities.

-Being a semifinalist in the Sustainable Cities Challenge in Venice is a major recognition of our work in developing sustainable and innovative bicycle parking solutions. It demonstrates that our commitment to combining technology, user-friendliness and environmental considerations is gaining international attention. We are proud to represent Norway in this competition and look forward to sharing our ideas and learning from other leading players in urban development, said Heyerdahl.

Bikeloop also secured a significant victory in a competition organized by Mobility Lab Helsinki, a project led by Forum Virium Helsinki and Business Helsinki. Out of 22 participants, the company’s solution was selected for its ability to enhance bicycle parking and promote cycling as an effective and sustainable mode of transportation.

Looking ahead to 2025

With such remarkable achievements in 2024, Bikeloop is looking forward to continuing its journey in 2025, with a strong focus on sustainable development, innovative solutions, and increasing bicycle use - both in Norway and internationally.
